Desjardins to offer weather alerts on mobile apps

Clients will be able to get alerts for hail, windstorms and torrential rain

Starting in May, customers who use Desjardins Insurance Home-Auto, State Farm or The Personal mobile apps will be able to access a severe weather alert system for hail, windstorms and torrential rains.

The system can detect hail and the size of the hail, giving customers a heads-up about potential damage to cars and buildings. The insurer says the system will eventually be able to warn customers about the threat of hurricanes and tornadoes.

Additionally, app users who have been in car accidents now have the option to submit claims online on their own, or with the help of an advisor.
