Risk managers enhance their skills at RSA seminar

Risk managers from across the country recently landed in Toronto to take advantage of a risk management seminar organized by RSA Canada and the Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC) at the Schulich School of Business.

The event is in its second year but it was the first time participants could use the program to obtain official certification from the SEEC to enhance their risk management credentials. The first day of the two-part session was on June 6 and risk managers will gather again on Oct. 26.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Brynn Winegard, a professor and writer, who spoke to participants about harnessing subconscious thoughts in order to manifest life goals and intentions. Dr. Matthias Kipping, a professor, led a presentation on business strategy and Franca Miraglia, a business consultant, discussed effective communication.

“We understand that the challenges facing risk managers continue to evolve, particularly in a business landscape that’s becoming increasingly unpredictable,” says Colette Taylor, vice president of specialty lines at RSA Canada.

“Based on the feedback from last year’s participants, we worked collaboratively with Schulich educators and executive education experts to design a certification program to help risk managers grow their leadership behaviours and competencies while challenging their strategic mindset as it relates to risk management,” she adds.
